Bangladesh Wins Toss, Opts to Bat in Match to Avoid Whitewash; Three Changes in Squad

Bangladesh has won the toss and decided to bat in the match to avoid a whitewash. Additionally, there have been three changes to the squad. Taskin and Shoriful have returned to the playing eleven, replacing Saklain and Mustafiz respectively. Nurul Hasan Sohan has taken the place of Soumya Sarkar.

Despite creating history by winning the ODI series against Australia, Bangladesh could not maintain that consistency in T20Is. The Tigers have lost the twenty-over series with one match remaining. Therefore, Hridoy’s team has no alternative but to win today to avoid a whitewash.

Bangladesh lost the first T20I due to batting failures. Even after scoring 189 runs in the second match, the red-and-green team could not secure a victory. This is Bangladesh’s first series loss in their second bilateral T20I series against Australia. Bangladesh last defeated Australia 4-1 in Mirpur in 2021.

Meanwhile, a run-fest was witnessed in the second match of the series in Chattogram. Batting first, Australia scored 196 runs. In response, the Tigers, after briefly raising hopes of victory, were stopped at 189 runs. A total of 385 runs were scored across both innings, which is the second-highest at the Sagorika ground. Previously, England and Africa had scored 389 in the 2014 T20 World Cup.

Tawhid Hridoy’s team will be eager to post a large total today at this high-scoring venue. However, it remains to be seen where the Tigers ultimately finish.

Bangladesh XI: Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Towhid Hridoy (Captain), Parvez Hossain Emon, Nasum Ahmed, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed.
