Case Filed in Dhaka Over Alleged Offensive Remarks About Islam and Prophet

A case has been filed in Dhaka against writer and blogger Sanymoon Hasib Zaki over allegations of making derogatory and offensive remarks about Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on online platforms.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly published multiple posts on his personal website and X (formerly Twitter) account containing statements that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. The complainant, Abdullah Al Mamun, appealed to the court to ensure the highest and harshest legal action against the accused under the relevant provisions of Bangladeshi law.
On 3 September, Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrates’ Court took cognizance of the matter following a hearing at Court Room No. 06 and directed PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation) related to Shahajanpur Police Station to investigate this matter.
Court sources said the case has been filed under sections 295 and 298 of the Bangladesh Penal Code of 1860 and registered as C.R.-131/2026.
An unnamed court source confirmed that Sanymoon Hasib Zaki used offensive and abusive language against Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his personal online platforms and social media activities.
No official statement from the accused was available at the time of filing this report, as attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 10 October for the submission of the investigation report by PBI.
