Local Government Elections to Commence with Union Parishads from November 12

The Election Commission (EC) is set to commence local government elections from November 12, starting with the Union Parishad elections.

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd.) Abul Fazl Md. Sanaullah informed journalists about these details on Monday (September 14) after a commission meeting.

He stated that the Union Parishad elections would be held in 7 phases. The first phase is on November 12, the second on December 13, and the third on December 30. The fourth phase is on January 17 of next year. The fifth phase is on February 4 of next year, the sixth on April 22, and the seventh on May 27.

He mentioned that they could commence local government elections with the Union Parishad polls in 80 upazilas in the first phase. He added that these decisions have been made provisionally.
