Prime Minister Tareque Rahman has sought the cooperation of the international community to ensure the dignified repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar.
He sought this cooperation during a courtesy meeting with Julie Bishop, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar Affairs.
Tareque Rahman is currently in the United States to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The bilateral meeting took place on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s residence at the Hyatt Grand Central Hotel in New York.
The Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, confirmed this.
He further added that during the meeting, discussions were held between both parties regarding the effective role of the international community in finding a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
During this, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister sought the cooperation of the international community to honourably repatriate the forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar to their homeland.
