In response to the fuel price hike in the country, a decision has been made to increase passenger bus fares. Bus fares for long-distance routes and urban areas, including the capital, have been increased by 17 paisa per kilometer.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Road Transport Ministry on Tuesday (September 22).
Earlier, on Monday, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) proposed an increase in passenger bus fares. The proposal suggested raising long-distance bus fares by 20 paisa per kilometer and urban transport fares by 18 paisa per kilometer.
However, at the Ministry’s meeting, it was decided to increase the fares for both types of buses by 17 paisa per kilometer.
