President Urges Police to Serve with Integrity and Professionalism

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the police force to carry out their duties with honesty, dedication, and professionalism in maintaining law and order and curbing crime across the country.

The President made this call on Thursday (September 3) when Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.

The President instructed members of the police force to take appropriate and urgent measures to establish the rule of law.

He directed the police chief to take effective measures to prevent misinformation, false information, and the spread of rumors, as well as cybercrime, snatching, extortion, and drug proliferation. The President also emphasized taking necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of women and children.

He further stressed the importance of regularly informing the public about these issues and conducting extensive awareness campaigns.

During the meeting, the President stated that the current government is working to uphold people’s fundamental human rights and democratic rights. He instructed the Bangladesh Police to continue taking effective measures to stop extrajudicial killings, harassment of citizens, and filing of false cases.

During the courtesy call, the IGP briefed the President on various steps taken to maintain the morale of the police force and to modernize and digitalize the force. He sought the President’s overall cooperation in fulfilling their duties.

The President assured the police force of his full cooperation.
