Previously, on July 24, the country’s 22nd President, Md. Shahabuddin, resigned. Following this, the Election Commission began preparations for the 23rd presidential election.

As per election rules, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has already held a meeting with the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament).

It is worth noting that general voters in Bangladesh do not directly participate in the presidential election. Only Members of Parliament cast votes to elect the President. For this reason, the Election Commission publishes the list of Members of Parliament as the voter list for the presidential election.
