PM Urges Chevron to Invest in New Gas Field Exploration

Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has called upon the US-based energy company Chevron to increase its investment in the exploration of new gas fields, in addition to existing ones, to strengthen the country’s energy security and meet its growing demand.

He made this appeal on Sunday (September 13) during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat with a high-level delegation led by Javier La Rosa, Chevron’s President of Base Assets and Emerging Countries.

Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Swadhin informed that discussions at the meeting focused on investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector. Particular emphasis was placed on Chevron’s investment in expanding operations in old and existing gas fields, as well as in exploring new ones.

Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, and Chevron Bangladesh President and Managing Director Shu Xiong, among other relevant officials, were present at the meeting.
